Climate change and the global consequences for humanity are certainly some of the greatest, universal challenges facing us today. They can only be addressed in the context of cross-border, interdisciplinary collaborations. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation would like to play its part in this and has therefore created a new fellowship programme: the foundation's International Climate Protection Fellowships promote prospective leaders from threshold and developing countries working in the field of climate protection and resource conservation. The fellowships are funded under the Federal Environment Ministry's (BMU) International Climate Protection Initiative. In order to publicise this programme, we should like to ask for your help.

We should be very grateful if you would forward the information on the new programme to suitable candidates and encourage them to apply. Attached you will find detailed Programme Information and a short description which you are welcome to forward or print out and disseminate at your institute or organisation. Please note that persons who have already received sponsorship from the Humboldt Foundation in the form of a fellowship or award are not entitled to apply for this fellowship.

Every year, it is planned to sponsor up to twenty prospective leaders working on climate protection and resource conservation in academia, business, government or non-governmental organisations. They will come to Germany for a year to conduct a project dedicated to the exchange of knowledge, methods and techniques together with a host. This will encourage the creation of a network in which German and foreign experts will collaborate on a sustainable, international basis to combat climate change and its global consequences.

Applicants must have clearly demonstrated their leadership potential in their first leadership positions or be able to provide appropriate references. They must also have completed their first university degree (Bachelor's or comparable academic degree) with above-average results and hold a further academic or professional qualification. Furthermore, they are expected to have gained initial practical experience through involvement in projects related to climate protection and resource conservation. Applications may be submitted immediately. The closing date for applications is 15 January 2010. The fellows will start their fellowship in September 2010.

MS本科学历就可申请，待遇如下：The fellowship amount reflects the fellow’s academic and professional qualifications, current position and professional experience and is currently set at 2,150 EUR, 2,450 EUR or 2,750 EUR per month. This includes a mobility lump sum and a contribution towards health and liability insurance.
